The Story:
Twenty years ago, a mysterious plague swept through the Himitsu region, casting victims into unending nightmares caused by Darkrai. As the adults fell into deep slumber, an untouched generation of children watched helplessly. One such child, an orphaned girl haunted by fear, lived with Pokémon in the forest. She befriended Celebi, who took her back in time to when a magnificent lake still existed in the region.
In the “past”, this lake was home to Sinfae, a guardian of fear and paranoia, later banished to the Distortion World. As the girl’s anxieties grew near Sinfae’s cave, Celebi brought them back to the “present”. Unable to forget, she tricked Celebi into returning to the “past”, blaming it for not stopping the plague. In their escape, Celebi inadvertently brought Sinfae and the girl to the present.
Now 18, she manipulates her generation using Sinfae’s power. They believe that Celebi holds the key to preventing the plague, unaware they’re under Sinfae’s control.
